$1 Million Milestone Reached with the 2014-15 Worldstudio AIGA Scholarship Winners

Monday, September 15th, 2014

Three of the winners: Yathrib Ragsdale, Myles Thompson, and Kawing Ng.

Yathrib Ragsdale mentors minority, first generation, college bound students. Myles Thompson educates his college campus about African American art and culture. And Kawing Ng manages a Meetup group called VolunteerNY to bring together people who share a common goal of giving back to the community. These talented and dedicated students are among 14 recipients of the 2014–2015 Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships, awarded each year to art and design college students who demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility.

This year marks a special milestone for the program—$1 million in scholarships have been awarded to date following a successful fundraising campaign. Founded in 1995, the program has now awarded tuition grants to 668 students studying fine art, graphic design, illustration, interactive design or photography in the United States.

AIGA Centennial

Monday, May 5th, 2014

1916: John Coy, 1945: Tom Geismar, 1962: Jennifer Morla, 1950: Michael Osborne

To promote the AIGA Centennial in 2014, Worldstudio conceived “Celebrating AIGA 1914 – 2014.” Leading designers from across the United States were asked to select one year from the 10 decades of AIGA’s history and make a social, political or cultural statement about that year to help commemorate this milestone for the country’s largest professional design organization.

This collection of 101 designs by AIGA Medalists, Fellows and national and chapter presidents provides a remarkable visual overview of the history of the 20th and early 21st centuries. The richness and variety of these annual snapshots in words, images, symbols, marks and photographs is a testament to the talent and vision that can be found in the ranks of the over 26,000 AIGA members.
